meyray | The reason why I’m asking specifically about a woman’s chart is because traditionally Mars is also associated with her romantic involvement with men. Of course I’m more interested in how it plays out with her character, assertiveness and general relationship to men. Do intense aspects come more naturally to Mars because it’s generally a very active and aggressive planet? Would these aspects make a woman more masculine and aggressive or the opposite – make her repressed and passive? Would these aspects indicate a turbulent relationship between her and the opposite gender in general or again the opposite – a troublesome relationship with her own gender? How would this affect her sexuality? (Because in the example I will give Mars is in the 4th House) Is this potential for a violent spouse or an abusive household? Here is an example of a woman who’s Mars receives only hard aspects: If we take into consideration very wide orbs – squares to Mars are formed by Pluto and Juno

Kerosene | thank the stars you don't have mars square neptune and uranus too! I have that and it's already a handful.!Obviously have my assumptions looking at the chart but I may be wrong? What type of men do you attract, I'm curious? Are they incredibly aggressive? Personally I think all those aspects are badass, I would not want to mess with you!! Those boyfriends should fear your wrath!!!!! |
meyray | > Kerosene You’re so right. Outer planet hard aspects are really troublesome especially where Mars is involved. When I think about it I don’t really attract anyone. No man ever tries to approach me. Usually I’m the one who does it. It’s something I noticed lately and find it very weird. Generally I’m very timid, cautious and reserved but when I see someone I like (which happens very rarely) I become incredibly courageous, forward and flirty. The men I’ve been involved with romantically were not aggressive or violent although I consider only one person a proper boyfriend. Only he was hot-headed and was prone to yelling when angered (he controlled himself around me though). Astrologically all of my “boyfriends” have had Saturn square Pluto but they were born between 1993 and 1994 which means most of the people born in those years have it. I noticed that most of the men around me have strong Sagittarius influence (my 7th and 8th House cusp). A lot of the men who have had a major impact on me (in terms of attraction) have had Leo Mars. Looool, I’m a marshmallow. I admit I get angry and upset easily but I never blow up. I’m not assertive or courageous but I‘ve noticed that the closer a person is to me the more aggressive and dominant I tend to be.

StarlightSmileSupreme | Guys don't like to approach when they fear rejection. Meyray, do you flirt? Men, supposedly, feel comfortable around women who do. |
meyray | >StarlightSmileSupreme Highly depends on my mood and how I feel about the guy in particular. There is a catch about flirting. I only like when I flirt. When the guy does it it’s intimidating to me on a personal power level. Only two guys ever have ever approached me first and both times it felt like I was losing the upper hand. I never see flirting as a power game when I do it (because when I do it I’m genuinely interested in learning more about the person, having fun and making them feel good) but when they do I immediately see it as a threat. However most of the time I’m not flirty. I would even say I’m unapproachable and not just for men but for all people in general. But like I said it highly depends on my mood. This definitely relates to the ASC and Saturn. I don’t see Mars getting involved here (other than the sudden confidence boost when I approach someone I’m interested in)

Jazabel | Meyrey, What house does your Mars rule? |
meyray | >Jazabel The 6th (Scorpio) and 12th House (Aries)
|
11nahyt | Why does it matter which house it rules? Does that have an extra affect?? I have a very heavily afflicted mars too. i have mars intercepted in my 7th, and the ruler Aries intercepted in my first. What does that mean? |
Jazabel | quote: Originally posted by meyray: >Jazabel The 6th (Scorpio) and 12th House (Aries)
The house ruled by Mars and the house that contain Mars would be under high developal tension. Your Mars is apparently in your natal 4th house, where most of the tension will be unleashed and unloaded. Ruler of the sixth house in the fourth One spends excessive amounts of money on the residence and may overcapitalize, particularly if this sixth ruler is afflicted. The mother of the individual becomes his enemy and doesn’t support him even from the outset of life. As the fourth house also rules vehicles, it’s an unsavory position indicating troubles and breakdowns through mechanical devices such as cars. The connection to the sixth ruler with the fourth house damages ones contentment and this makes it difficult for the person to find any sweetness in life. ETA this comes froma vedic website, and vedic is quite dark and negative. Try searching for other info on 6th house ruler in natal houses

That's the only part I agree with. Generally I'm not a fan of co-rulership when it comes to Mars. To me that's Aries area only. I'm more willing to agree that the ruler of the 12th House is in the 4th House.

I agree with that as well |

Omg, wow I couldn't of explained it better. Despite me being a male, I do find it a little threatening when about 3 women try to "flirt" with me who I don't know. I feel like it's better if I initiate it. Just like you.

StarlightSmileSupreme | Martian squares are how your energy feels blocked when you are pursuing what you want. Let's say you wish guys would feel more at ease approaching you but you don't flirt with them, and are kinda standoffish and distant. That's how Mars's squares show up. From what I have seen, Mars has a lot to do with the confidence to flirt while Venus is more about flattering people and putting them at ease, not necessarily flirting, really. Flirting takes some spontaneity and this is Mars's territory. Mars likes to initiate things. Venus is more receptive to the overtures of others. How you view flirting sounds more like Mars than Venus, Meyray. Saturn can make you feel inhibited and there's a lack of spontaneity, the opposite of Mars. Both planets can work together to create a serious individual. |

Hera | In my view of things, your Mars is not afflicted. It is simply badly aspected. Affliction would have been being badly aspected by malefics. Since Mars is a malefic himself, it is safer to say that he afflicts Sun, Moon, Venus and etc. But Mars receives no bad aspect from Saturn, Uranus or Pluto (that 12 deg square doesn't count). To answer your questions, since I do have an afflicted Mars.. quote: Would these aspects make a woman more masculine and aggressive or the opposite – make her repressed and passive?
Both. I am learning the path of moderation towards assertion. quote: Would these aspects indicate a turbulent relationship between her and the opposite gender in general or again the opposite – a troublesome relationship with her own gender?
Both. quote: How would this affect her sexuality?
In extremes. From abstinence for years to BDSM experiences. quote: Is this potential for a violent spouse or an abusive household?
Yes. |
meyray | >Hera Although I wasn’t fond of the results I like the way you answered -straight, matter-of-fact and no waffling. This is how everyone should post.

Faith | Thanks, Hera. So I will say that my Mars is badly aspected, because it is in a t-square with the moon and Neptune. And as such I suppose the questions don't apply to me after all. Interesting thread, though!

Meyray, Having malefics in harsh aspects to one another is bound to create trouble. I was sexually abused by my father (Aries Mars exactly opp Pluto and a bit wider, Saturn = the father). I think in my case since I have oppositions to Saturn and Pluto I am more ambivalent than someone who has squares, for example. But oppositions allow me to project one planet and express the other and then switch. Like in the cases of my abuse and rape attempts, if they expressed Mars I expressed Pluto (psychological manipulation), if they expressed Pluto (stalkers for example), I was Mars (raging mad). The energy is always present, all it wants is to be expressed, not blocked. If you block it, it tends to explode in unpredictable ways. So it's good to find little outlets for it that are socially acceptable. Though I flirted with bdsm, I am no longer active. But being a surgeon allows my sadistic tendency to express itself without actually hurting anybody but actually doing good. Forgot to say the oppositions form a Grand Cross with Nessus and Lilith/Lucifer, as well as Asc/Dcs.. So yeah. Bad. |

This is me ^. My dominant / aggressive side tends to come out once I feel close to someone - Mars conjunct DSC. Otherwise I'm really easy-going. I've attracted a few abusive men but luckily, it doesn't happen that often. Usually I'm the one creating trouble. |
Doux Rêve | By the way, to all girls (or boys, I guess) with an afflicted Mars: be careful when a transiting planet (especially a malefic) makes a hard aspect to your Mars - you can attract violent / abusive situations. There was one time when transiting Mars conjuncted my natal Saturn and squared my Mars and Pluto - I was sexually "taken advantage of". Watch out for transiting Mars, Saturn, Uranus and Pluto especially. |
Kerosene | ^ I've been feeling afraid of people that have been approaching me lately.. They're creepy, some of them definitely seem like possible criminals. I'm pretty sure this one was a well do drug dealer. I think it's because uranus transiting over my mars and I have natal mars square uranus.. I actually have dated a criminal before, don't ask.. I was naive... To0 bad uranus is going to be over my mars for awhile *whines*.. I'll let you guys know when I'm abducted and murdered... |
Doux Rêve | Good luck, Kerosene! Hope nothing bad happens to you. At least you keep your sense of humour. |
Vradec | I have a Mars in Taurus in tight opposition to Pluto in Scorpio. Mars is in 6th and Pluto is in 11th. Something which that afflicted Mars seems to attract (because I can't see it elsewhere in my chart) is extreme situations in terms of sex and relationships. I have been assaulted once and also raped. It seems to be that dodgy dominating/violent guys are magnetically drawn to me. As for my sex drive, well these days it's through the roof it's that strong. It's actually annoying! Also the stuff I like is a bit weird and wild. As for my personality, I can be angry and aggressive and have been a little dominating in the past. I am aware of this now though and try not to be this way. I am quite forthright and energetic. |
